Gardai urging drivers to obey speed limits during the M7 roadworks

SpeedCheckJPG

A motorist has been clocked driving at 141km/hr in a 60km zone during the M7 roadworks today.
Gardai warn that the driver may be facing a charge of dangerous driving which carries an automatic loss of licence on conviction. Drivers are being urged to obey the speed limits during the M7 upgrades.

Since January 6th, works on the M7 mainline, between Junction 8 and Junction 10 are taking place in the median.

To accomodate these works, the following traffic restrictions have been put in place.

  • Speed retricted to 60km/hr through the work site, which will be monitored byt An Garda Siochana.
  • Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in both directions during daytime hours.
  • Traffic will be moved onto existing hard shoulder.
  • Traffic lane widths will be restricted to 3 meters and 3.25 mters in width.
  • There will be no lay-bys or areas within the work zones for stopping.
